Reviewers play an important role in ensuring the publication quality of the journal. The following describes how to complete the review process. For more detailed information, see the OJS User Guide 3: Review.
Log in as Reviewer
When registering with an account on the website, reviewers are required to register as a reviewer. Reviewers can also add a reviewer role at any time with a registered account, by visiting the User Profile page in the editorial backend.
Reviewers will also be asked to indicate research interests so that editors can make better choices when selecting reviewers for a submission.
In many cases, the reviewer may have been added to the system as a reviewer. This occurs when an editor wants to invite a reviewer to review a submission but the reviewer is not registered in the system.
Complete assessment
Reviewers can see if they have been assigned any review articles by going to the Submissions page in the editorial backend. If reviewers see any submissions in the My Assignments section, they can click on the link to access the browser.
Request
The first step requires the reviewer to accept or unlink the request to perform the review. Reviewers will find relevant submission details as well as due dates for responding to the request and submitting their review.
Rule
Please read any reviewer instructions that the journal has prepared, to ensure that reviewers can provide the review in the format and to the expected standards.
Download and review
Reviewers will find the Review File to download and review on this page. Once the files have been evaluated, reviewers will be asked to enter their evaluation in two text boxes.
Reviewers should place comments they want to share with the author in the first text area. The second text area is comments for editors only.
The editor will have access to all reviewer comments. This provides reviewers with a way to share private information with the editor that may not be appropriate to share with the author.
If the reviewer has prepared his or her review in a separate file, it can be uploaded at the bottom of the page.
Complete
The reviewer has completed his review. Thank you for your help in ensuring the quality of scholarly publishing.
The editor will review it and may send the reviewer an email confirmation.
A record of reviewer reviews is kept in the system, so editors can view and evaluate how many reviews the reviewer has made for the journal.
Update user profile
Reviewers can fill in more complete information about themselves if they have not already filled in the user profile. This is a great way to ensure editors have all the information they need to make optimal choices for reviewers. See the User Information section to learn more.
